My name is John. I'm an adult and I'm 45 years old. I have a son, too. He's always been interested in technology and various other things. This story takes place one day when he tries to get me into computing.

I hear a knock on the door. Outside, I can see my son carrying a huge box that says "DELL" on it. Then there's a slightly smaller box on top of it. It looks like one of those newfangled TVs. I go over and open the door.

"Hey dad!" He shouts in excitement, as he walks into my house. I'm divorced, so I don't live with anyone.

"Hey there. What's that big box you're carrying?" I ask him.

"It's a computer, of course."

Now I had a million questions running through my head at the same time. Why did he bring a computer here? Was it for me? Why does he think I want one? Nevertheless, I asked him why he brought it here.

"It's for you, dad. In these modern days we live in, you gotta learn how to use one of these."

I didn't object, as I was quite curious on how to use those things. My son works with web design, and sometimes when I watch him work I just get dizzy. How will I ever be able to know how to do such things? Eh, it's worth a try.

As we enter my room, he puts down the boxes and begins to unpack them. He sets everything up with incredible speed. He's probably done this alot.

"There, that's about it." He says, as he makes me sit down in front of the screen.

"Wait, I have a question first" I said. "Why do you think I need a computer?"

"Well, you do lots of shopping, right? Everything is cheaper on-line. Especially on on-line auction sites. They have everything, you just need to surf the web to find it all."

"I suppose I could give it a try." I said.

"Oh no, I've forgotten something" My son exclaimed. "You're going to need a broadband provider."

"A broadband provider?" I asked.

"Yeah, it's the guys who make you able to get on-line and surf the web. In other words, you need a broadband provider, or else you can't get on-line."

"Where can I find a broadband provider, then?"

"Actually, you won't need one right now, since I've got my wireless 3G modem with me."

"3G? Modem? What are you talking about?" Now this was really getting confusing.

"I'll tell you later, let's get on-line and surf the web now."

And with that, he started up the computer.

"Let's go to an on-line auction site. You're into auctions, right?"

It's true, there's an auction house right down the street that I go to whenever I want new furniture or something.

"You'll be surprised at how cheap on-line auction sites are. Everything is much cheaper than over at that run-down auction house, I swear."

So we went to an auction site, where he showed me some things, and sure enough, it was a lot cheaper online. After that, he showed me some other things to do on my computer, like watching videos, playing games, and a bunch of other cool stuff. And with that, he was done. He was going to get a broadband provider for me tomorrow, so he left me with his 3G modem for today. And that's the story of the time when my son taught me to use a computer.
