One day I was buying on-line from eBay. It occurred to me that the web designers of eBay must have had to do a ton of work! They would have had to hire a programmer or maybe a whole bunch! The programmer who made eBay did a really good job.
I think of eBay as its own little social network. I mean its really not that much different than a social network like Twitter. The only difference is that eBay is for buying things and a regular social network is just for talking. The programmer who made eBay really bridged the gap between talking and buying.
So I was buying on-line and I was looking for some shoes. And I found a pair of red ones with little sparkles all over them. I thought they were very pretty. So I pressed buy and I put in my Paypal in and then it said it was being shipped! I was very excited.
After a few weeks I got my package in the mail. I took the box and ran into the kitchen to get some scissors to open the package. I found them and immediately started cutting at the box. When I looked inside I was deeply surprised and disappointed. These were not the shoes I ordered! They were indeed red, but they were old and worn out! They even smelled terrible! I was not happy with the shoes at all. I got on-line and immediately left an angry message on the seller's account, only to find that many other people had gotten scammed like I did. People left messages like, "I did not get what I wanted at all!" There was one that said, "I ordered a $1,500 pair of earrings only to get them and see that they were cheap plastic earrings!"
I guess that buying on-line sometimes is not the best thing to do when you do not know who you are buying from. Some people don't care who they hurt and are looking to get money any way possible, even if it means scamming people out of their money.
