I have spent the past ten years cultivating a career where I work exclusively on the net. It dawned on me one day that I really needed to carve out my own little stop on the information highway. I had spent so much of my time managing and consulting on clients' websites and on-line communities that I had forgotten to allow the time to develop my own presence.

In the last summer holiday, I have studied a short course of web site development at a tertiary school. I chose this course because I was really interested in web designing. But I have never learned anything through a formal course. One day, while I was shopping with my classmates, I saw a poster on the wall, which was introducing a sort of summer course. Because of the design of the poster, it stood out and captured my eyeballs. When I looked through it, I saw a web site development course was shown on the list, it included graphic designing, web programming and database control. I knew this course was what I was looking for. And I also successfully encouraged two of my friends to enrol together.

So one day I was surfing around the web on my internet connection and then, Bam! Right there. A pop-up, not just one, but about three! It was so frustrating and guess what? After closing the first three, one more came up. So much for the program that was supposed to help block me from them, eh?
